Tuesday's Blog News

Big news coming soon! We have a guest writer who will be joining us soon. Looking forward to reading her perspective on all thing's survival and bushcraft. I do believe this will be something MANY will relate too and enjoy. So, make sure your significant other is ready to hear all about the other half's side of the story. I have given free reign as far as topics, so it will be a surprise to me as it is to you. (Lord knows I am anxiously awaiting)

In other news, it is Tuesday and I am sure most of us have put in a long day. So, what great wisdom could I pass on? Could I discuss gear? Skills? I think I may change things up a bit.

Dogs... Everyone loves dogs. We happen to have two mini–Golden Doodles.

When your Guilty, the charm really comes out. This new addition to our family happens love toilet paper and paper towels. While I wouldn't mind if she was using it for some constructive purpose. I am amazed at how creative a puppy can be. I am still trying to wrap my head around how she tp'd the ceiling fan...Now look at that picture again. How can you be mad at that face? You cannot.

And then there is this one. Our O.G. (original gangsta) for you country folk. Now I have to say, I wasn't too sure about getting a mini–Golden Doodle at first. I had preconceived notions about them. How could i ever relate to anything with poodle in it? Well let me tell you all about the wonderful world of a mix of Golden Retriever and Poodle. I am not sure how anyone ever came up with the idea of mixing the two. Imagine that scenario. Husband telling his wife "We need a dog just like Rufus our retriever". Wife in a sweet voice, " well honey if you can figure out how to get a mix of him and my childhood pet Poodle have at it. Husband replies." Hold my beer".

Thirty years later we are now the proud owners of two. And hopefully in a year from now puppies from two of the best dogs I've ever been around. Smart? There are times when I think they know what I want before I do. Loving? that may be an understatement. Affectionate yet not annoying. Sometimes standoffish, especially after ten P.M. I swear the boy punches his timecard and clocks out for the day.

They each have their own personality and truly are a perfect addition to any family. The only downside I have found is that there is no way I could take them in the woods for a three day or more trip. I couldn't imagine the burrs in that fur. We have purchased a doggie vest; it is too large... but there is still hope that someday the "boy" will head out with me!

If you have a dog that travels with you and loves to camp, please let us know with a short story or two! we all would love to hear all about your furball!

Why do we crave the wild

Rained all night, snowed a bit around 4:00 a.m. still raining now. It’s chilly as I rolled out of my fart sack and warmed my coffee up....
